★このディスクは、1971年に結成し翌72年に発売したデビュー曲「走っておいで恋人よ」から81年活動停止までの名曲の中から、現代のオーディオシステムで改めて聴き入りたいと願った名曲、全16曲を選曲・構成したベストアルバムです。

 曲順は、全4楽章を想定した構成となっており、それぞれの物語を描いています。

 第１楽章……①冬の稲妻～⑤遠くで汽笛を聞きながら
 第２楽章……⑥走っておいで恋人よ～⑪帰らざる日々
 第３楽章……⑫今はもうだれも～⑮エスピオナージ
 エピローグ……⑯さらば青春の時

 マスター音源には、貴重なアナログ・マスターテープを使用。「狂った果実」「エスピオナージ」２曲のみUマチックのデジタル・マスターテープを使用しています。

 このディスクの制作を担ったのは、日本を代表する音づくりのプロ集団「ミキサーズラボ」率いる名エンジニア三浦瑞生。制作は、東京・西麻布にあるレコーディング・スタジオLAB recordersのBスタジオで行なわれました。

 アナログ・マスターテープのプレイバックには、厳正にチューニングされたスチューダー「A80」マスター・レコーダーを使用。一方、Uマチック・デジタル・マスターテープは、ソニー「PCM1630+DMR4000」によって再生、44.1kHz/16bitのデジタルファイルとし、D/AコンバーターPrism Sound「ADA-8XR」によってアナログ信号に変換を行なっています。
