三国志の武将 関羽 の愛馬の名前で赤兎馬(せきとば)と呼ばれます。

関羽は武神とも崇められていますが、商売繁盛の神とも崇められています。

関羽は義理、人情に厚く、道徳心を重んじる豪傑で、

商売においても大事な事から商売繁盛の神として、

横浜や神戸だけでなく、

函館や那覇にも関帝廟がありますが、

いずれも華僑の町や中国人住居地区に置かれています。

その関羽の愛馬、赤兎馬は真っ赤な体毛の馬で一日に千里走る馬とも

別名、汗血馬(かんけつば)とも呼ばれ、汗が血のように見えるとも言われています。
