ナイジェリア、ラゴス出身のOlubiyi Thomas（オルビイ・トーマス）はロンドンのALEXANDER McQUEEN、ニューヨークのSiki Imにてデザインやパターンに従事したのち、De Rien（ロンドン）にてクリエイティブ・ディレクターに就任。2015年にDe Rienから独立し、自らのブランドを立ち上げ2016年に初のコレクションを発表した。

Olubiyi Thomasはartisan的なアプローチで、廃棄された洋服やインテリア用品の廃材、古代テキスタイルの発掘から織物の歴史的解釈を再定義しデザインに取り入れている。
縦長のシルエット、絶妙なドレープやレイヤー、切りっぱなしのガーメントによるアバンギャルドスタイルが特徴的だ。

多文化性と隠れたアイデンティティーがテーマで、デザイナーであるオルビイ自身のナイジェリア出身、スコットランド育ちといったバックグラウンドが反映されており、アフリカ文化とポスト・ブリティッシュ・コロニアニズムの融合と繋がりの再創造を試みている。
