アカシデは自然樹形が美しい品種です。別名は赤目ソロと言われます。同じ仲間の木の中ではあまり大きくならず、庭木に使用されます。日本全土に自生しています。高さは15ｍほどになります。花は4～7月頃に咲きます。秋には葉が赤く紅葉しとても綺麗です。樹皮、枝、葉柄などが赤味を帯びることからこの名前が付いたといわれています。ケヤキに似た雰囲気がありますが、シラカバ等の仲間です。

【育て方】
日がよくあたる場所を好みます。剪定は12～2月に行います。あまり剪定を行わず自然樹形で成長させるほうがいいです。肥料は1～2月冬肥えを与えるとよいでしょう。
